So working is getting to me right now, It's starting to get really busy with bookings next year and it is very stressful! In fact, the girl that worked in this position before me quit right around this time because of the stress! I already gave my notice for December 1st, one month before my due date but I just don't feel I have the energy to do this anymore! I feel nausious every day I come into work and my back hurts and I just feel stressed! The only way I see a way out of this is for my doctor to write me a note. Should I just tell him about the stress I am under and will he write me a note to quit working? I'm not sure how that works! I live in canada so I get a year leave with unemployment pay so i'm not worried about taking the extra month off. I just can't take it anymore! Does anyone have any advice that went though this?! Thank you!

I think its always in baby's best interest to not work when pregnant if you can help it, and especially if its very stressful. Theres so much else that has to be done between house and husband and getting ready and blah blah blah, a full time job on top of it is a lot.

I only made it to 34 weeks if I remember right.

I would talk to your OB and let them know that you're starting to feel sickened by the stress of working, and that you're afraid continuing to work will cause preterm labor and in general just be unhealthy. I had that same talk with my midwife and she was able to write my disability form up for me, so i could collect that and not unemployment.

I was then able to sew and sell on ebay, or even just buy from tag sales or auctions and sell on ebay, just to keep a little cash flowing. You'd be surprised what little things you can do stress free to help out a little.

I would talk with your doctor and certainly to your employer. I would tell your employer that you're going to see your doctor and he;s going to write you a note, so that the employer has enough time to replace you.

I remember feeling like that! I had to keep working until 36 weeks because I have no maternity leave. Sucked! Anyway, I would ask the doctor. My midwife wrote me a note, but I ended up working another 5 weeks. Now, I am 38 weeks 6 days and I am bored out of my mind! All that I can think about is when the baby will be here. So, if you really feel stressed and since you have a year leave, I would tell the doctor. Get emotional if you want to, it only helps! Good luck and take care.

Wow! A year leave with unemployment pay? I wish I lived in Canada! Why is America so backwards?

I am going through the same thing right now, I hate coming to work so much, I'm actually wishing I was on bed rest just so I could quit working! I'm having a lot of rib pain and sitting in front of a computer for eight hours a day is making the situation go from bad to worse. I would talk to your doctor, be completely honest with him/her and tell them how the stress at work is making you feel. Stress for mom equals stress for baby, and you don't want any undue stress on your little one! Your doctor doesn't care when you go on maternity leave, it's just a matter of them writing the note, so don't be afraid to ask!

Congrats!

I would say to do whatever will make you more comfortable. If you are stressed out at work that will affect the baby and you don't need that at all!! Either tell them that you're sorry but you want to leave already because you can't take it anymore but you will see them again for work at a certain later date or go to your doctor and have them give you a note for work saying that it's time for you to leave. You can't help this so don't blame yourself. Do you and baby a favor and get out if it's stressing you out, as stress isn't good at all now....Best of luck to you!!

I live in the US and I know how you feel. I'm 34 weeks and absolutely can't take it anymore at work and I still have 3 weeks to go before leave. Your doctor at his/her own discretion write you a note for maybe bed rest - or something else. It's up to your doctor, just explain to them what you have explained here and see what the dr says

They should understand and let you off the extra month...Dont feel guilty about doing it because you have to do what is the healthiest for yourself and for your baby. Plus if you are getting paid for it anyways then go for it. You can talk to your doctor or you can just tell your employer. I quit work after my 3rd month....it was unbearable. So I give your props for sticking it out this long.

Yeah, if you can't handle it, leave. Talk to your doctor and I am pretty sure everybody will understand. Your child's health and yours come first.
