In regard to a white man, if someone puts "oh he's a racist", the person gets tons of thumbs up, but if someone is talking about a black man and says ''oh he's a racist" the same person gets a ton of thumbs down.

It's really a horrible double standard isn't it?

I agree In NY there was an off duty cop who shot a black man and it wasn't on the front page of the papers cause the cop in question was also black. The world will never be equal when one group of people dictates how they should be treated. Can't we all just get along

Well it is a huge double standard but unfortunately some people only see in black and white without any shades of gray in between and they don't see it that way at all. If a black person says something racist about a white person it's seen as all good but if a white person says something negative about a black person then all hell breaks loose. Until some people can stop seeing things in a certain way such as the "I'm the victim" then it will always be this way. Yes racism is prevalent in society in this day and age and to me it's wrong no matter who is saying racist remarks against whatever race, or nationality they are aiming it at. I say that we should all make Martin Luther King Jr's dream come true once and for all.

Being in the military I have seen all sides to this argument, and there are racist in every race, but I also know it not to judge someone. We make judgments on people just because of their race and religion. By doing that you are admitting you are a racist. SO I go one more step, to call some one racist is a racist act in itself. If I am always worried about why someone is doing something or said something that makes you no better than that person. I believe in forgiving people for just being ignorant and uneducated about other peoples cultures and back ground (notice I did not say race because that does not determine your culture and background, I made that mistake before) So we have faults, it only up to you to be the better person and live your life the right way and be accountable for your actions. For me that will be my day of judgment with God. For you that is all in your belief.

I just have to say this to everyone who says racial slurs, no matter what their race: Don't dish it if you can't take it! Racial slurs are never ok. We should insult based on the persons CHARACTER, not their race. Minorities have a lot more discrimination than white people will EVER have. And a lot of white people don't realize this, including my boyfriend and close friends. I'm NOT saying it's right- it's not. Like I said, don't dish it if you can't take it. This includes sexism and homophobia. I'm an upper middle class Puerto Rican with a good education and on my way to get a Ph.D. However, people constantly call me "sp*c" or "wet back" or tell me "go back to where you came from". CONSTANTLY. It really makes me want to call them something back, but I usually don't. It would just make me look worse. But for other people who do it, if they do it afterwards, it's for defense. And to darkpreacher, not every minority sells drugs. Not every person who talks about the white person bringing them down sells drugs. It insults me that you even said that.

All issues like this cause a double standard.

The race card is played far too often in the world, in my opinion. If something bad happens to someone, it's entirely possible that it happened because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time, and had nothing to do with race, creed, color, religion, socio-economic status, or anything else.

My parent’s house was recently struck by lightening. That doesn’t mean that God has it out for them. It means that there were some negatively charged ions that attracted some positively charged ions causing a burst of electricity in the air, and that it happened to occur close enough to their house to blow part of the roof off.

There are issues that are clearly tied to race, but it’s like the story of they boy who cried “wolf”. It happens too often, and people stop rushing out to see if it’s true.

Example: Michael Vick is a criminal who is guilty of abusing animals, and who even pleaded guilty. He is no more or less guilty of that crime because he happens to be black, but there are those who play the race card in his case. “Had it been a white guy…”

Come on. He’s guilty. He admits he’s guilty. He did a horrible thing. He thinks it’s fun to watch dogs try to kill each other. He thinks it’s okay to torture and kill dogs that can’t fight well. I don’t care if he’s white and fuzzy with a little pink nose and just as cute as the day is long. He’d still be guilty.

It is because we see the race card pulled out of peoples azzes for no flippin reason whatsoever. It is a double standard. It is a stereotype. But that doesn't make it a fact that doesn't exist and happen often. Sometimes just making the statement "That's racist" is racist itself, for viewing a situation in terms of race rather than in terms of facts. (Example: Al Sharpton & Jesse Jackson wanting to bail out the group of black kids that beat the snot out of the white boy in Arkansas...they are representing a group that fights for equality?)

Yes it is, that is why i don't like racism. I just wish people would get along. But i think that it is going to be a long time b4 that happens, even though we have made strides, it is not enough.

Anyone who says that they do not see color is lying to themselves. It is human nature to see color but you do not have to treat color any differently. Plus also have you ever noticed the people who get treated differently are usually the ones who do stupid sh*t and ask for it? Sorry, but it just kills me for someone to act like Mr. Equality and claim that they do not see color. If someone is different from yourself you notice it...it does not mean you have to hate it though!
