my daughter is 5 months and 1 week old. She has started wakening earlier and also ive resorted to having my tea at 9pm because when she smells food she wont take her next bottle.
She has always been fine at taking her bottle but now it seems she gets fed up.
Can i start giving her a bit of baby rice or porridge in the evenings?
My health visitor insists on 6 months but i thought every baby was different?
Are there any disadvantages or risks associated with feeding her now.
I dont want to wean her completely but would like to try her on a little in the evening and morning, nd still continue with her milk.
What do you think?

I would wait until that 6 month mark. Just a few more weeks. When you do start her, you'll know if she's ready, because she won't keep spitting it out every time. If they're too young, they can't move the food to the back of the mouth to swallow. Make it very liquid to start with. I would also reccomend starting with barley instead of rice. It's easier to digest. And always wait a week between introducing something new. That way, if she has an allergic reaction to anything, you'll know what it was.

I had the same question about my daughter which is now 6 months and still wont eat any kind of food. All babies are different. I do not think there are any risks in feeding your baby at 5 months. My mom said I was eatin food at 2 weeks and Im a perfectly healthy young woman. You can try to start feeding her food. It will probably take a while for her to get the hang of swallowing it but if she is ready for food she will eat it. I wouldnt worry about anything. The doctors always tell you to wait until 6 months but that is not always the case cause some babies need food earlier than others. Hope that helps. Good luck

The professionals recommend 6 months and older because by then the baby's digestive system is ready to digest foods with texture. However, there are a lot of pediatricians and moms who introduce food to their babies earlier than 6 months without problems.
Personally, with my first baby I tried rice cereal at 4 months, and my subsequent children I waited until they were 6 months, and that is what I recommend.

Start her on baby food. My son starting getting that way around 4 months...if he seen anyone eating he would freak out and want what we have. He was large at birth too so milk alone was not enough to satisfy him. He is seven months now and is starting finger foods feeding himself. You are the parent if you think it is time then you know what is best. My son gets a bottle in the morning and night before bed and during the day he gets food. He is healthy as can be. Everyone says that if you start foods too early they can become overweight...but as long as you monitor what they are eating and are feeding them healthy items they will be fine.

4 months is the age for baby cereal, my son was born at 9#10oz and the doctor told me to start to feed him baby food at 4-5 months. i've known many people that have fed there baby baby cereal at as young as 1 month. Your baby should be fine the reason they want you to wait is so the baby don't have any problems digesting the food, but i've never known anyone to have any problems. If you did the baby would get crabby and have gas or the runs.

i'm a grandmother and "returned in the day", women persons had a asserting..."IF the newborn has progressed tooth, it's time to stop nursing and time to start stable nutrition." The awareness at the back of it quite is the undeniable fact which you would be bitten jointly as attempting to nurse and the newborn had progressed to a element the place stable ingredients have been bodily doable for him by using fact he had tooth. perchance it quite is in basic terms previous person-friendly experience notwithstanding it worked. in spite of each little thing, that's what tooth are for....real? yet "delicate ingredients" and formulation have been pretty plenty persevered from 3 to 6 months on reckoning on how hungry the newborn became into and how many energy he or she appeared to wish. A mom can constantly tell while in basic terms the formulation or breast milk in basic terms isn't sufficient.

4 months is what most doctors suggest, either that or 1 year. Depending on the doctor.

My son started eating cereal at under 3 months (just on occasion to get used to it) and baby food in jars by just under 4 months.

Start orange and then introduce green veggies and other fruits, meats last. About 4 days to 7 days between each new food.

Both of my kids started on rice or oatmeal at 4 months and they were both fine with it. Beware: rice cereal does cause constipation. Oatmeal is best. Make the mixture with formula or breastmilk and keep it rather runny. Spoon feed your child rather than adding to the bottle.
Best of luck. The baby will be just fine.

I personally started my son on cereal at 3 months, and not two weeks after, he started getting some fruit with it
A few weeks after that, I started vegetables..he was hungry for it!

I introduced the foods slowly, and my doctor recommended cereal at three months!

You mix the cereal with formula or breast milk, so shes still getting it in the food!

Some parents put cereal in their kids bottles at 6 weeks..I didnt do that, but you know your child...If she is still hungry, she needs more!
