Im sure most of us if not more than most of us have been to someones WAKE before..I have only gone to a few (in my religion we dont have wakes we bury as close as the same day of death) If you have gone to a wake before are you the type that does go up to look or touch the body or are you the type like me who stays in the back of rhe room and just looks on..I dont like looking at he dead that way....What do you do?

Yes i have gotton chill the moment i stepped into the room...its a shocking thing...you can't really put it into words....it was one of my best friends last year...he was very popular...homecoming king....girls loved him...so the wake was huge....when i walked in i broke down crying....everyone on the team was....when i walked up i just stood there motionless....basically in disbelief....it was horrible...but overall, it helped because i got to see my friend one last time...

Of course I do. It's a creepy time; looking at a formerly-living friend or relative.

You exchange the usual conversational noise about how "good" the deceased looks (it's traditional if stupid...he's frickin' DEAD; that's not a good look on anyone). Then you go get a drink and share old stories (or entertaining lies) about the deceased...it's not like he's going to dispute you.

if the person is very close to me or someone that i know i would go up and see the body sometimes touch it . i am not afraid of the dead but some time if you look to hard at the body it will look like the person is breathing and that's your cue to leave.

There is no reason to look at the body of the person you loved after death. Their soul, the memories are now with you and the people who loved that person. That is where everyone should look.

If the person was real close to me I will go up and pay my respects but if they weren't that close, I stay in the back. You have to remember that the dead don't hurt you, the living does.

I went to my father in laws a couple of years ago. I was trying to be strong for my husband but when I walked in and saw the body...I lost it. I will stay in the back like you next time.

I always view the body, I have to see them, at least once more, I held my Great grandmas hand for hours at her funeral, She always said she wasn't as scared Dying if someone was with her, So I never left her side, I put a photo of me in her coffin so I am there too.
