Is Joss Stone overrated?

Most of you have probably heard of the supposed to be great soul singer Joss Stone. She has even been called the new Aretha Franklin. I see her as a closer to the overrated Elvis Presley. You know, the guy that had alot more success than guys that were truly better than him.

The problem is that there are much better singers that you can find in churches and there are other soul singers out there who are much better. Joss Stone's piples aren't all that greato start with, but she surely not better than Jill Scott or Angie Stone.

Oh, she surely is better than Britney or Beyonce... But so what? She's not a top notch soul singer. If she weighted 250 pounds it's almost a sure thing that this girl wouldn't be as well known as she is now.

And before you consider replying that I'm a black women hater... I'm a white male that actually apperciates the genre understands fake soul when I see it.

Really, I dont think she is all that cute. She has a pigs nose.

To add to that sweetcheeks... That's what I'm talking about. You bring up Britney Spears, but that was part of my point. Being better than Britney Spears doesn't make you good.

But she's said so many bad things about so many people that it's hard to believe that she's a great person.

Wicked... Strangely enough I think it even works with some women. I've seen women rave about her looks and go on and on.. So I don't think the so called beauty only fits the image with the guys.

In my opinion I think Joss Stone is under-rated....she doesnt get the credit she deserves....

I understand exactly what you are saying. She is overrated she has a voice but it is not great. Whenever I listen to her sing I don't feel anything she has a husky voice but to me she does not have the emotion or the sincerity in her voice where she makes me want to stand up like most soul singers have.. Her voice is basically average I listen to the way she sings she has no range what so ever she is also one dimension she has no versatility in her vocals.

I know a lot of women her age who can sing better and easily be given the torch as being the next soul singer.Take a look at women from Apollo Amateur Night even American Idol Contestants and you will see.

Her first two album are overrated it is not really that great only mediocre at best. Plus she sings funny too it seems like she is trying to sound like some southern woman if you listen closely to her speech patterns it is funny because she has an English accent but how come she sounds like a person from the south when she sings.

I know some English singers who have soulful singers but you can hear the accent in their voice when they sing listen to people like Rick Astley, Beverly Knight and Dusty Springfield.

I believe she is a little bit better than Britney or Beyonce but she can't carry the torch as being the next soul singer. I think the only reason is ahead is due to the fact that I am not to say she is white Teena Marie is white but she is underrated like Angie Stone and other great soul singers. It is mainly due to the fact that she fits in their little standards of beauty.

She is a fake yes indeed even the new image she is putting out for herself is a fake. She tries to hard and over exceeds herself.,even the duet she did with Lauryn Hill and Common does not change the fact that she is not really a credible soul singer.

I like Joss Stone. I think she sings from the heart and is very soulful.
I wouldn't compare her to Angie Stone and definitely not to Jill Scott, but her songs have a good message and she doesn't sound the same on every song like Beyonce does.

I like her voice, but I really hate most of her songs. I don't know what it is, but they're so boring to me.

I think the reason she's popular is she 1) cute, 2) white, and 3) young. How many young, cute white girls can sing like that? Plus soul doesn't get the mainstream attention that other genres do, so it's good that she's breaking out (kind of like Josh Groban and his operatic tunes). Is she super fantastic? No. Is she a breath of fresh air in the youth-dominated bubblegum pop world? Yep, and I think that's where her appeal comes from.

possibly she in basic terms would not choose people to think of of her as in basic terms a intercourse image and consistent with probability those rumors are in basic terms rumors. i be conscious of Joss stone and a few of her song is powerful isn't that what concerns not if she has had intercourse??? the real question is why the hell are people so prepared approximately people (celebs specifically) having intercourse its slightly weird and wonderful why not in basic terms look up porn that's what i might do or i might bypass and function intercourse...

the first time i heard and seen josh stone she sang on an awards show, wasnt in america..

2 thoughts come in my mind when i seen her. first wow she's hot. i thought she had a naughty type sexiness to her, and second thought was man she can really sing.. i was very impressed that voice come out of her..not many impress me on first impression, but she did. not on looks alone, but talent also..she sings amazingly..i little janis joplin sound in her i thought
