I stopped post-partum bleeding when my son was 5 weeks old. At 9 weeks post-partum I had a "mini" period. I lasted a few hours and was very light. At 13 weeks post partum I had another one but it lasted 8 days and was light on and off. Because I've had what I would call a period exactly every 4 weeks since I stopped post partum bleeding, does this mean I'm ovulating again? I've noticed ion between bleeding I've had about 5 days or so of slipperly, clear CM and then it stops and shortly after that I get a period....I'm assuming this means I am. But, the thing is I'm breastfeeding and I thought like 80% of women didn't ovulate during breastfeeding. Is this true and does it sound like I'm back on schedule? I

Lots of women ovulate when they are breastfeeding. It is an old wife's tale that you can't get pregnant when you are breastfeeding. Some women don't ovulate when breastfeeding, but a lot do and it isn't a from of birth control that you can count on. It sounds like you are back on schedule. If you don't want to get pregnant, you need to use some form of birth control.

You are ovulating!

Ovulation while breastfeeding exclusively seems to be best controlled by how often you feed and whether you are still feeding through the night. So this means....
1) You are breastfeeding exclusively, not supplementing with formula, cereal or solids.
2) You are feeding 8-10x per day (every 2.5-3 hours)
3) You are continuing late night feedings.

This is not a guarantee for control of ovulation but it does work for the majority of women.

I think so! I'm havng that too! I bled at 5 weeks post-partum and the mid-wives say it's definitely periods. But since you also supplement, that may be why! It's even more odd for me because sh egets nothing but breastmilk....ugh, they said I'm just 'one of the unlucky ones', but I want to TTC in a few months to I'm just on the mini-pill for now!

Yes you ovulate while breastfeeding, I have never heard anything about 80% of women don't. It is a myth that you can't get pregnant while breastfeeding. You need to take some sort of precautions. I know of a few women who became pregnant again while breastfeeding.

Very good possability! I started having my periods when my son was 4 months old...they were sketchy (Still are!! and he is 20 months old)...
It is not a guaranteed birth control to nurse...so be careful, unless you want another one!
