I'll bet you made this guy's day by just calling him son. No, I do not think of anybody on this sight as old. If we can still print out and answer or E-Mail a friend and get the sentences to make sense and can spell most of the words right, then I think we are doing well and that life is good.
I am female and I have gone into a store for my cigarette es and I have been carded and I will be 57 in November. The days I really hate is when I am called Sir in person or on the phone and I just look them and tell them that they can call my husband that when I bring him in to introduce him to you and the ones who do it when I am on the phone, I ask them to call back when my husband is at home or could I take a message as this is his wife speaking and then I have fun with the idiots as my voice is not even deep.

Perception distorts reality. Very much so. I used to play this game with people I worked with, at different places. Have everyone sit down, then have others guess how tall they are.

Its amazing how wrong people can be when they do this, people always guess I was about 5'8" or 5'9". In reality I am 5'3 1/2" I am sure that has changed now though, since my life and I have changed, and I am no longer a type A personality.

Your personality and how you come across to others forms the image they have of you, and in a lot of cases reality has nothing to do with it.

When I was a manager at Sears every xmas men would come in shopping for their wives, and would say she is about the same size you are. A size 3, 110 to 115 lbs. Their wives would be in after xmas to return what their husbands had bought because in reality they were a size15 or more - :-)

I always thought that was so sweet - but this is why people make such bad witnesses - we let our perception of a person completely obliterate reality at times.

I often assume people on the internet are very young, because their style of communication suggests it -

lol Never mind, put it down to a senior moment. I've recently had a mail from someone offering to take me to bed!!! lmao
I never replied, think he might have got the wrong idea cos of my avatar, it doesn't look at all like a 57 year old grandma I know. It is meant to represent that my mind is young even if my body can't back it up!!!
hugs x

I'm not leaving and I'm 58. Two more years and I hit the big SIX 0.

When you say all seniors are teenagers, I think you're right. I feel that way once in awhile, myself. I know when I see somebody younger than me, I call them a youngin', rather they're 57 or still wearing nappies. It makes no difference to me. Hopefully they're not offended, cause to me, it's a compliment.

If somebody younger wants to e-mail me, I say, 'GREAT!' Shoot, some of my friends are in their 30's. I love'em dearly and I wouldn't know what to do, if I didn't have them to talk to.

I am usually reticent to say my age, because I've had some folks on this site tell me I didn't really belong here.I am about to turn 51, and my husband is 57.we are more comfortable with the senior mindset(whatever that is)or with senior manners,I guess.I like it here,I hope ya'll don't card me!

You are not that far off...all seniors, I believe, if like me, are 18 year olds trapped in a body that has been slept on badly! Goldwing ( and you can call me "son" anytime you want, I am just a tad past teenager (66 is just a tad beyond, isn't it? )

I do think everyone is younger and am shocked to find out we are the same age or they are older.
Maybe we can start a new section and call it "Beyond Seniors".

I'm not good at guessing people's age, even in person, let alone in an e-mail. Don't worry you will never be to old for this site, just don't forget where we are. lol
