I've never heard any mention of the Moon having anything to do with the mortality rate. There is mention of higher crime rates and so forth during a full Moon but these ideas have no basis in scientific fact. Many people believe a lot of it psychosomatic and has little to do with the moon phase because after all no matter how much of it is lit at any given time the entire Moon is still overhead.

The Moon is up 50% of the time, so I find that impossible to believe. You could look up death records somewhere and check if the Moon was up at the moment of death and I bet you would find a death that happened when the Moon was up in the first 2 or 3 records you checked.

People die every second of every day, all over the world. Dark of the moon has nothing to do with people dying, although there are more births and 'odd' behavior reported during full moons...I don't know if more deaths are reported as well.
