I use the 3M Filtrete 900 filters in my house. I think they work pretty good to reduce dust. You can buy them at Lowes and Home Depot. They run ~$9 each.

I have the same problem, and also get the cheap AC filters, and still do ,but I use Vent Filters too , I took off the vent, that's on the wall ,two screws and put the filters in the vent, you might have to cut to sizes, very easy to do, also cheap at Wal Mart, they have been in there for 3 weeks and I can tell a big difference, have fun!!!

I took all of the carpeting out of my house. I put in tile floors. I have a dog and smoke too. It has helped so much having no carpeting. I also use a Swiffer to sweep up the floors. That way you just throw the dust and dog hairs away. My daughters and I layed the floors, and it is not hard to do. No more smells either. You would be surprised the diiference without carpeting. I love it.

a good filter will catch more dust and allergens, but if you have alot of older carpet in the house, with pets, and smoking, buy a good hepa filter vacuum cleaner, better yet get rid of the carpet....cheapest way is to change filters often, take furniture outside if possible once a year and beat the dust out, dust is a real pain in the a--.and when dusting, use something that catches the dust and not just putting back in the air.and yes air purifiers do help, but it is a little costly....good luck.

I have a Rainbow Vacuum Cleaner...It's awsome...it catches the dust in water rather than a bag with holes in it...It also has a heppa filter...plus you can run it 24/7 on the low speed...I have 2 Dogs, 4 Cats, and a 2 year old...so I accepted the fact that I would never have a spotless home...until I saw the Rainbow Presintation...again...It's AWSOME...and they'll come to your house and give you a presentation for FREE...I LOVE MY RAINBOW!

Air purifiers help reduce dust. Can be costly to change filters every 3 months. I use one in my baby's room and I can see the a reduction in dust in her room compared to the rest of the house.

substitute the clear out on your furnace if the furnace is placed on your condo. Or call the owner or custodian to alter the clear out. The furnace is sucking air by way of the clear out alongside with any dirt, airborne dirt and dirt and such it incredibly is around the furnace. Then it incredibly is blown into your condo and on on your furnishings.
