Seventeen year olds would probably be a junior (11th grade) in the 2nd semester (spring term) or a senior (12th grade) in the fall term.

In other words, 11th grade = 16 turning 17 during year
12th grade = 17 turning 18 during year

Hope that makes sense!

I'm 17 & I'm a senior but I'll be turning 18 during this school year. So, I'll be 18 when I graduate.
