Out of Control spending. In my opinion, polarizing issues and making them of a moral nature has no real place in politics - only a cosmetic one. Have you ever been to Washington DC, toured all the places, viewed congressional hearings on CSPAN? It is all boring. There is no over-romanticized version of government like on the TV show West Wing. And that is a good thing. People should let it do its main functions, functions that are backed by money. All the exuberant ideas over the past two decades have made people more dependent on Government when they don't have to. Under both parties this has happen. If we tone it down, get back on track and efficiently run the government how it was meant to be under the constituion, things like Healthcare will be resolved as a product of this. In fact, all government ailments will be solved this way. It's called common sense.

So, spending - which will by default, correct the other problems.

As an outsider (UK citizen) looking in, it seems to me that people place blind ideology above their own interests.

If people voted according to what was best for them, John Edwards, advocating universal healthcare etc would win by a landslide. Instead people are going for candidates like Clinton, Giuliani and McCain whose policies seem to have been written by Wall Street for the benefit of Wall Street (at the expense of everyone else) and a small minority of self-interested groups like arms manufacturers and massive corporations, none of whom have the interests of the average US citizen at heart.

Why?

Because anything that seems to even hint at being fairer and more equitable for everyone is deemed "socialist" or "liberal" and at some point there has been this big mindwashing to say that "socialist" or "liberal" is bad, and the orthodox ideology for both "republicans" and "democrats" (I use inverted commas because I genuinely can't tell the difference between the two) is that greed is good, wealth should be concentrated in the hands of the few, and anyone who gets shafted or left behind deserves it.

A person who is honest, common sense, yielding when neccessary, has the whole countries interests in mind. Able to make both parties see his/her point of view. Less of a warmonger, but not a hippie either. If not this election maybe one day.

definite. i will vote, and so will my 18 year previous son. He in simple terms had his birthday and is amazingly exited that he now has the right to get thinking politics. My best difficulty is with healthcare. i go with to ensure a political candidate arise with a responcible, smart, situation fixing mind-set to healthcare. As a nurse, I see the go with well-known. human beings without healthcare gained't even search for the most straightforward preventative care because it truly is in simple terms too severe priced. maximum tell me that they are afraid to come back to the healthcare professional reason he would locate some thing heavily incorrect, and that ought to point finacial devistation for his or her relations. Why is this in no way a precedence for politicians? I evaluate it the biggest nationwide disaster of our day. Social safe practices concerns me a great deal besides. i wish we are no longer going to bankrupt this technique. I also go with someone to fix the completed massive authorities spending issues. i'm drained of paying soooooo many taxes. it truly is ridiculous that we've distinct taxes and nevertheless would nicely be taken out of the monetary recreation by one ailment in our relations. it really is totally unfair. i go with to ensure a downsizing in authorities and advance in what we honestly 'get' for our tax funds. Immigration is yet another large difficulty with me. i go with the unlawful alien entries into this u . s . a . to quit in the hot day. they don't look to be 'entitled' to at least some thing. in the experience that they arrive the following and benefit citizenship, and opt to quite be an AMERICAN citizen, fantastic, i will embody them as brothers/sisters. yet... permitting those human beings to enter the following unchecked is a severe breach of nationwide safe practices. Who is conscious what they're as a lot as? i understand what they're as a lot as... they're overwhelming our hospitals and college structures. It desires to quit. as far because the 2008 election, I honestly have not chanced on a suitable candidate yet. i'm nevertheless waiting for them to all commence speaking. up to now, they're being very gaurded. i imagine they're waiting for the election to entice slightly closer in the previous they make any large statements.... so ... i will wait besides.

To get the government back where it belongs; in the hands of the people. The corporations have had control of our country for too long. They have ruined it almost beyond repair. It's time to take it back.
