Fenway is a nice place to live, but all the baseball traffic may annoy you. It is quite safe as is anywhere near central. Boston. Be aware, no place decent in Boston is cheap! But here are a few suggestions: Davis Square, Somerville is somewhat reasonable and great for young singles with lots going on there. Just a quick hop on the T downtown or anywhere. Also look into Jamaica Plain, Boston- lots of young singles with a liberal gay-friendly bent. Cambridge is great if you could find a reasonable place- also very accessible.

Fenway is nice if you can afford it. I lived in Fenway for several years. The apartments near Fenway are mostly on:

Park Drive (most popular) and lots of Apartment
Oueensborough Street

That's the ones I can think of for now. But Park Drive is a good bet!

About the traffic, I don't drive so it's not something that I was worried about. The D-line, B-line, and C-line are all next to Fenway. Yes, it's very safe.

Fenway overall is safe, yes. But obviously, use some common sense. You're in a big city. So act accordingly. You might not want to be completely alone very late at night or something, but that goes for anywhere really! The apartments are nice, and it's a lovely area. . . Baseball games happen roughly 80 times per year, and the traffic gets worse, but hey- you're close to the action, it's worth it. Plus it's so easy to get around on the T. . . .

one thing to keep in mind when moving to the area around fenway is baseball traffic. Boston has some of the most intense fans and that whole area in and around Fenway is pretty much nuts with revellers for 162 days a year, more if they are in post season like this year.

I have heard stories in the past that the area around Fenway is not so nice. Like homeless, and crime. But not sure if that is rumor or not. It is very accessible with their underground subway as well. You may want to call local police department and ask them.

when I was there during a visit and ball game and I felt fairly safe, but was with my family in the middle of broad daylight.

As far as safety, use your best judgement. Boston is a great town! I prefer cambridge area if I had to pick, but that is really expensive.

Fenway, like most of Boston, is relatively safe but there is crime of course.

There are several funky restaurants in the residential area of Fenway, and students and artists, a little bit like a miniature Greenwich Village. But there is a lot of upscale construction going on right now so if you have a reasonable rent get it while you can!

We walked around Boston at night in the Fenway area with my children. It is just as safe as most big cities. You have the beautiful Fenback Park down there and close enough to walk to alot of places.
Parking might be tough- good luck- it's a great city!!!!
