A gas has a volume of 8 liters at 1.0 atmosphere of pressure, 25 degrees Celcius. If the temperature and pressure are increased to 67 degrees Celcius and 4 atmospheres, what is the new volume, in liters, of the gas?

25C=298K 67C=340K

P1V1/T1 = P2V2/T2

V2 = P1V1T2/T1P2

V2 = (1.0)(8)(340)/(298)(4) = 2.3 L to two sig figs.

Use

PV/T =P'V'/T'

Where P is in absolute units (Pascals) 1 atm = 101,325 Pascals
T is in kelvin degrees
