The Iraqi war is over. Now this is just a battle between insurgents (terrorists) wanting to hold out until the short memoried Americans decide to pull out.

Yes, this is necessary. We have an obligation to the honest, hard working people of Iraq to help them in establishing a solid government that will stand on its own. We removed an evil dictator who killed his own with WMDs (the mass graves and manufacturing facilities are the proof). The insurgents moved in to fight us there. If it were not for that, this would have been done and over long ago. Yes, it is just that simple. A biased American news media will do everything in its power to push their objective... Destroy Bush at all costs. Destroy the Republicans at all costs. Even at the cost of American soldier lives.

It was a misplaced war in the first place but now that it's there, the US may as well do something about the mess it has created.

That is a question you ask before you start a war. (It probably wasn't necessary.)

The question is how do we stop it without completely destabilizing the middle east.

BTW Delphi, an invasion/occupation is a war.

The first war probably yes;everything should have been finished there and then;continuation..or part 2 would have been unecessary.

It wasn't until we put boots on the ground. Now it is. Just look at what happened in Somalia after Clinton pulled us out prematurely.
