Gossip is so evil.......it is a hurt that keeps on hurting. Tell her you know. Then if she asks for forgiveness, grant it. Continue being friends (maybe not best friends) but realize you can never confine in her again. Gossiping is so hard to control for one who was born with lose lips. Don't be hypocritical, don't you gossip either.

be upset for a bit
go to the friend and wish her 'have a nice day' and tell her that someone told you what she's been spreading around -
and tell her that you forgave her and hope that she will change for the sake of other friends she will have. Maybe if she can undo what she had done by swallowing her pride to take back what she said because it is not appropriate to tell on someone.
and say
Goodbye, nice knowing you.
The reason why you have to be nice to her, is it will show that you are not guilty about the news she is spreading around, and who will others believe - you that is so calm and mature or her that she has to gossip about someone to patch up her immaturity?
It's not any business anyway what you do in your life - she is using you to get other immature like her to patch up their immaturity. So, don't mingle with her anymore - a gossip is a gossip - this is a desease of the brain and the cause of insecurity.

It was happened on me many times & i dont know what to do its just am dreaming & felt Floating when am heared of it.What i did was leaving them & i didn't do anything instead of smashing her face.
Am just ask above whose the most powerful (god) to let her know what shes doing...& you know after several days she asked sorry on me and i've cried too much not because she ask sorry but i've really felt the love of god on me.
What u will do is Let the God decide to those people like them.

Dont accuse her, talk to her but keep your guard up so you know if she is lying or not. Make her prove that she didnt do it.

comfort her and ask her what in the heck did she do such thing and if she didn't gave me a reason i am going to stop being her friend........or i am going to spread a rumor about her.........
