Big bucks. In Daytona, a motel room that normally rents for $39 a day goes up to over $200 with a one week minimum. The police issue the majority of a years tickets during this time. Food vendors also make some serious money.

The same reason we have weeks for any kind of Hobby ,Bike Events are becoming bigger and better as the years go by ,We have a lot of Bike events in Florida that hundreds of thousands of people come to from all over the world ,Daytona (spring),Biketoberfest(Daytona in the Fall),Panama City (twice a year) , Leesburge (spring), And one that is getting a lot of attention only after 3 years is Cottee River Bike Fest in Port Richy Fl

actually theres a bike week every month from spring to the end of october.
the purpose is to give one the opportunity to associate with ones peers, renew old friendships, discus common interests & possibly to settle minor missunderstandings & disputes .just as supafly said in the above posting.
the other 3 or 4 months are necessary for bike repairs, to think up inovative new ways to come up with money for bail & to finance the next seasons rallys & occasionally for mandatory rehab.
thus go the seasons of our lives

Never been to bike week, Sturgis regurgis or any other bike meet since they moved the Aspencade outta Ruidoso New Mexico, but it appears to be about the three "B's", Bikes, Booze and Boobs...K ;o)

So all us beer & crank fueled dirtbags can spend a week raping women, killing cops, and beating down poseur dentists.
They give us a week to cut loose and get it out of our systems. That's why the national crime rate has been on the decline.
