Talk to her about the new options. There's one that you have a period every 3 months. They will ask you if you smoke - please don't. It raises your risk. I'm going thru the same thing and I am overweight so I am being very diligent about what I'm eating to not gain anymore while on the pill.

If you want to get your periods regular again, you can get them by taking appropriate medicines. here are good medicine in Homoeopathy for the pre-menstrual syndrome.
Weight gain is due to use of Cartico steroids and it is better that a good diet is also supplemented.
THe best option is to understand what was the actual problem, and how the problem is caused, and so what is the natural way, you can cope with that, by exercise, food and less medicine.

Everyone is different. Your Dr. can best advise you on which b/c is best to start with. I may use one type of b/c and have no side effects whatsoever but the next person uses the same one and might suffer the side effects. What might work for me might not necessarily work for you. So, like I said, consult with your Dr. and see what options are there that may work out best for you and your needs.

BC pills in studies tend to not cause weight gain, usually weight gain was the fault of overeating and not exercising.
ALL women will gain weight every year, unless they exercise everyday and eat healthfully.
NUVA RING is wel known to have he fewest side effects of all hormonal BC.

Your DOCTOR is the best judge and do exercise! I had 1 week without and 3 weeks with (!!!) for 7 years (kept my mouth shut) and NEVER had cramps because my dad taught me to work out the pain. Good luck. (maybe consult a couple of doctors, advise to see a WOMAN doctor!)

The best option is te one your gyn gives you, nobody is able to prescribe the best pill for you but him. Bc pills should be taken seriously, cause not taken properly can make severe damage to your system.
The pill that was good for your friend might be the worst pill for you, so wait till your gyn prescribes you.
Good luck! ;D
