A true friend would tell you!!! They would find a way to do it, and not leave you to wonder. They would not say you stink, however they would tell you something like: "Gee you must have spilled something on your clothes or something you carry all the time cuz there is this smell that I can't quite put my finger on and it not so good"
I would rather the honesty myself. I hate it when something is wrong, like you have food stuck on your face and no one says anything, so you walk around looking stupid ….
Maybe your friend was just being nice!!! I mean they could have said here is a bottle of Scope, please use it regularly!!!
If you are not sure, I would ask. I would do it in a nice way, and maybe if you have a card or a gift card to return the favor ready to give to them…. After you ask, you can say something like: “I just really respect you and that is why I got you a gift card for Make Over Plus and I would not want you thinking that I saying you have an ugly mug or anything”.
Yes I have received a few gifts I really did not want. The worst one was a sink disposal. Now I needed a sink disposal, however giving someone something that is going to be a crap load of work and serves many other people ... The person giving the gift actually gets more out of it than the person receiving.... Bad, Very Freak'en Bad ...

I love bath and body works and she probably does ,too. My worst gift was a 12 inch black dreamcatcher with a pic of a wolf on it. It has black feathers hanging from it about 12 inches long. The main reason it is the worst is that it matches nothing in my house and the good friends that gave it to me visit my home often. Dilemma.

I once bought a nice Eddie Bauer jacket from a thrift store (second hand store). It only cost me about $3. I originally bought it for myself. But later decided to give it as a gift to a friend of mine, that did me some favors. I happened to have a new Eddie Bauer sweater that someone had bought me the year before. So, I took the tags off of the sweater and put them on the jacket to make it look like it was new from the store. Not a nice thing to do...but he was still happy...as it was a nice jacket.

my worst gift was a secret santa gift .i found out it was the old saggy boobed drunk pulled me name ,and decided to dig down to the bottom of her heart , and the bottom of her closet ,and give me a dusty handbag from 1972.
