Not sure if they are illegal or not, but it is illegal to re sell electricity. Check this out with the Citizens Advice.

In some properties each room will have its own slot meter, in this case the landlord is reselling electricity and cannot sell it above a certain price, how much electricity do you get for £1 ?

no for good reason
when you sign the contract
you agree to pay for your own elctric
if it higher, then so be it , he makeing a little
but he had to buy the meter in the first place right?

Don't think so. Unless you are getting very very little electricity for your £1.

i cant see an electricity meter bieng illegal....

they are outdated though.

No..but smashing it open and emptying it is....so just keep piling the money into it.
