It's only a trick I'd try when moving out of an apartment.

The real stuff is called spackle or light weight spackle.

It works. You can also mix baking soda and water to make a paste and use it to fill holes. Dries hard and paints over well.

TOOTHPASTE WORKS IF IT IS ACTUAL PASTE, JUST THE WHITE KIND, AND DEPENDS ON THE SIZE OF THE HOLE. BUT FOR SMALLER DENTS AND HOLES, YEAH IT WILL WORK.

as long as you use regular white toothpaste then yes it works...I've used it before and all I needed to do was paint over it
