What are I/O ports (COM and LPT) and how are they configured (IRQ, I/O Addresses and modes)?

Hi. They are input/output ports. COM is for communication with another device, LPT is for Line Printer. Their configuration, such as Interrupt Request (IRQ), is sometime set by the defaults.
