One you don't say how old the children are, but I"ve mentioned things like that to my 15 year old to help explain to her that she should be careful of what she wears and the image that she's putting out there if she isn't. My sister has done the same to her son so that she can stress the point that
no matter how a female dresses she should still be treated with respect. But as I said our children are in their teen years when they start thinking about these things, so I think it's apporpitate at their age to discuss these issues. I think that your question would have been better stated if you'd included the age of the children??? IF they are very young children than no it's not apporpiate and maybe she was just talking out loud with out remembering that her children were there it does happen some times. But parents are human and they some times make mistakes and if she's told her children later that what the woman was wearing wasn't appropriate and that she didn't approve she would have taught her children that sex isn't the only thing that matters.

because that's what she noticed in the poster, she wanted to express it and her kids were there. i don't know the tone, but women have nipples and children should be aware of that from the beginning since they have them too and that's how babies are fed. i see no issue with it. i would have said that to my kids. my boyfriend would say it to me. i was always very open. i don't think it's strange at all. maybe she was trying to tell the kids something. it could be anything like that she doesn't think it should be so public or that she thinks it's attractive, etc. it's normal for mothers to transmit their ideas and values (about everything especially including sex) to their children.
remember - kids are not blind and they would be able to see the nipples too. they may not ask, they may make assumptions. mom can bring the subject up and give them a chance to ask any questions. kids have eyes and they or their friends are likely to talk about such things too.
it's best if parents give kids accurate information about such things that is age appropriate. you don't say the age of the kids.

Not really. If you can be open and honest with your children, I would think they would reciprocate. Plus, I doubt that will be the first or last time her children are going to hear the word "nipple."

It's not like she said she was going to lick the nipples or anything.

It was a simple observation.

sometimes parents wrongly place their children on an adult level of thinking.
