Hate is a completely different criter. It's like trying to make orange juice out of apples. Plus, I don't believe in that statement about you have to love yourself before you can love others. There have been many times in my life that I didn't feel very good about myself, but it had no effect on how I felt about the one's I love.

Not exactly how it works. Realize hate is a complete lack of love, OR a complete lack of ANY feeling whatsoever. So in our society we have a HORRIBLE tendency to compare anger to hate. Its not the samething, anger is actually a product of love, which love makes you feel, the feelings can bring forth other emotions such as sadness, happiness, frustration and in this case anger which is a raw emotion that forces feelings that want us to make something outside of us change. But you can't have anger, with out love. Crazy stuff. Neo-Nazi's actually LOVE african americans, just don't try and explain that to them, lol. They have passion even if they don't have compassion for them, which is why they spend SO MUCH time talking about them, instead of themselves. That aside the depth of love you can give, you most have given yourself THRU understanding. So you can't really feel beyond the feelings you feel for yourself. Which its easier to just say that quote "you cannot love others if you do not love yourself first" its not such a tougue twister, lol.....
