i think its because by the time they get to 3rd foods its about the same as mashed table food. 3rd foods have chunks in them and by then if they can eat that then they should be able to tolerate most table foods so they aren't big sellers. and none of my kids liked the 3rd food they would gag on them and cry. and as far as giving them the gerber finger foods with no teeth i like the gerber puffs, they have quite a few different flavors and they dissolve in the mouth, my kids loved them. and they also have things that are like cheese puffs but they are white and dissolve quickly also. and they have veggie flavored ones as well. they also have gerber fruit snacks that are super soft and easy to gum on. i used all of these and all 3 of my kids loved them all.

My Walmart and supermarkets are the same way. I have no idea why they don't stock more, since there aren't really that many varieties in the third foods. I have to go to A&P, Stop&Shop and Walmart to get all of the flavors that my son loves.
With the finger foods, I would say no. My son is 10months also and has teeth and I tried to give him those wagon wheel cookies, but they were too hard and I was afraid he would choke. He likes the puffs (both fruit and veggie) and they disolve in the mouth, so no chewing is really involved.

My walmart is the same way, not just with 3rd foods, but the 1st ones too. They only really keep the 2nd's in stock. Try Target or a supermarket. If you have a publix near you, sign up for their baby club, they will send you a bunch of baby food coupons.
10 months is too early to feed finger foods.

It's not only Walmart that doesn't have 3rd stages food, neither does Target and Safeway. The ones they did have were marked down drastically. Is the 3rd stages being discontinued? If not, why aren't the stores carrying it?

Stage 3 foods are for suckers IMO. It's a waste of money. It's no different than mashing up the veggies on your plate & feeding it to your baby. My girls were eating that type of food by 7-8 months only because they refused the pureed kind. (I refuse/d to buy jarred food, yuk)

If the food is soft then feed them the finger foods in small bites. The reason for not so many stage 3 foods might be because at that age they should be eating more solid foods that you would eat.

Probably b/c they don't taste very good. Just smash whatever you have real good with a fork, or toss in the food processor. Cheaper, easier and tastier.
