In 1922 the Bolsheviks (or Communists) led by Vladimir Lenin took control of most of Russia. They formed a treaty establishing the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. This Union included several Republics such as the Russian Soviet Socialist Federative Republic, the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, and the Belorussian Soviet Socialist Republic.
By 1924 the USSR was officially recognized by most of the world.

End of 1924, the result of the second "Russian Revolution" (and several treaties), which turned post-Tsarist Russia into the Communist USSR (CCCP is the same thing, just in transposed Russian letters, like the KGB (Kommitet Gosudarstveniya Bezopasnost') would be known here as the CSS (Committee for State Security).
CCCP stands for "Soyuz Sovietskiye Socialicheskiye Respubliki" or "The United Soviet Republics"

nicely, that's a complicated solutions. The words Soviet Union and Russia have been in many circumstances used interchangeable yet, they have been 2 separate entities. for the period of communist rule, Russia become the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic and become between the fifteen republics that made up the Soviet Union.

Around 1922 with the fall of the monarchy. The term USSR and USR are interchangeable, although some of these terms have to do with internal communist party affiliations.
