I told her I would use tweasers to get it out, but that tick is dug in deeper than an Alabama Hound Tick.

What is the best way to remove it?

The Tick has been removed and it was not a Yellow Belly Tick which is good. It was a brown wood tick.
The doctor removed because she is such a pain that I could of removed it no problem, but she just got all shook up screaming at me telling me it hurts and all that jazz....lol
I'm still laughin at this one for a long time from now.

Here's something my folks sent me in an email.

Tick Removal

Please forward to anyone with children or hunters, everyone!! Thanks!

A School Nurse has written the info below -- good enough to share -- And it really works !!!

I had a pediatrician tell me what she believes is the best way to remove a tick.

This is great, because it works in those places where it's sometimes difficult to get to with tweezers: between toes, in the middle of a head full of dark hair, etc.

Apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball. Cover the tick with the soap-soaked cotton ball and let it stay on the repulsive insect for a few seconds (15-20), after which the tick will come out on it's own and be stuck to the cotton ball when you lift it away. This technique has worked every time I've used it (and that was frequently), and it's much less traumatic for the patient and easier for me.

Unless someone is allergic to soap, I can't see that this would be damaging in any way. I even had my doctor's wife call me for advice because she had one stuck to her back and she couldn't reach it with tweezers. She used this method and immediately called me back to say, "It worked!"

Please pass on: everyone needs this helpful hint.

With the threat of lime disease i would take her to the doctor.
However, if you were still stuck in the woods I would do your best to remove the tick. Even if you just break off the body and leave the head attached it will greatly reduce the possibility of getting lime disease, because it the body that would contain disease not the head. You would still need to get the head removed, but that will be a minor thing compared to all the problems of lime disease or anything else she could get from the tick.

Get a wood match stick. Light it and then blow it out. Then touch the tick's back side with the hot part of the match stick. It should back out. Then go see a Dr. to make sure she doesn't get an infected vajaja.

Okay..Gross place..never removed ticks from me..but my dog always use to get them...what we were instructed to do was...put rubbing alcohol on a qtip and touch the tick with it..It burns the tick's skin so badly, they pull their claws or teeth out of the skin and they let go.

cover it will clear nail polish and suffocate the tick and then remove it once its dead. Taking her to the doc is the best thing though, Lyme disease is contagious from tics.

Ouch! While pulling it with tweezers, dab alcohol around it...it will start pulling back...or use clear nailpolish over it...that'll suffocate it...but if neither works, get her to the doc. Damn...tell your wife sorry...that sucks bad!
