The omega wolf is the lowest-ranked member of the pack (omega is the last letter in the Greek alphabet). The dominant pair are called the alpha male and alpha female, alpha being the first letter of the Greek alphabet.

The real reason for the sexual double standard is that women get pregnant and men don't. For this reason I don't think it will ever entirely disappear. Many men feel the need for a 'virtuous' woman who will have their babies and no-one else's. However, I do think the extent to which it matters in society is exaggerated on here. There are a lot of people who don't care how many men women have sex with. And what exactly is going to happen to a woman in a western society who is called names for her sex life anyway? I mean, she isn't going to be stoned to death, or cast out of her home, or lose her job or anything is she? Do many people really care all that much?
