You name some great artists. The Cure seemed most consistently great over time and it's interesting but I hadn't really thought of them as new wave but I can see it. Berlin's "Pleasure Victim" may be my all time favorite new wave album though! Erasure was great (favorite track was "Hideaway"), but I actually preferred when Vince Clarke teamed up with Alf Moyet as "Yaz," and even when he was briefly "The Assembly" -remember that track "It never happens to me"? And don't forget Devo, Gary Numan, and Human League to name a few. But in answer to your question, I'd say The Cure was my overall favorite band of those.
edit: Yeah, "Pure Energy" - great stuff. Made me dance like an idiot back then. We used to call it the dance of alienation because we never looked at each other when we were on the dance floor of some club (we weren't really sure HOW we were supposed to dance, we just knew it did not involve holding hands). I wonder if that's still how people dance?

Erasure all the way... i do like the other artists, but i have always liked Erasure regardless of what they put out... They are still releasing new cds. i like the techno sound they have as well.
