I echo Theatre Doc and Big R. You absolutely need training first. An agent worth anything will not take you without training and experience. Get into classes and start auditioning for theatre, Once you've been doing that for a while then come back and ask about agents. Don't forget to post your location. No one can recommend anyone without knowing where you are.
Good luck,
Marianne

There are tons of agencies out there. You have to be proactive in your efforts to be represented. But, that definitely isn't the way to start. If you want to act, you should take acting classes, drama classes, do some plays, community productions, local stuff....
Although this may be hard to believe the entertainment industry in some respect is quite like every other industry. They want to know your experience, your background, your training.... i.e. a resume. You can't say one day you want to be a doctor and walk into a hospital, you obviously have to learn the craft. The same applies to the entertainment industry. It is truly a very big pond to swim in and lots of fish with lots more experience. Prepare yourself for success and not failure.
Once you have done that, whatever your location is, simply do a search almost anywhere and you will get results. Research their company, find out the submission process and follow their guide lines.
The best way to get a good one, is to be good enough for them to stamp their name, and reputation to you.... overall prepare, learn everything you can, from anyone who will offer their knowledge.

There are really plenty of them. You have to live in the city whrere the agent is. But I can tell from your question that you are not ready for an agent. You don't start with an agent, you wind up with an agent when you have enough experience and training to impress one.

even though i'm not a top contributor i must say i know a lot about that bussiness.
and all of them are right. but don't take any classes or spend any money on portfolios and everything.
they want to see the "raw product" and turn you into something themselves. so just try to look for some ads, and on the radio, and go to the meetings. :]
trust me it will work.
signed,
soon to be famous. (no joke)

What theaterdoc said. Forget it. You have to learn how to act and how things work before you can even consider looking for professional work.
