Is it the total lack of knowledge about the REAL feminism or is it just an emotional reaction that let's some women continue to live in the state of "perpetual victimhood" that feminism provides?

Using the textbook definition of feminism instead of looking at what feminists actually do is like using THIS definition of nazis:

"nazi: noun/ A freedom fighter for the betterment of Germany"

...& not looking at what they actually did.

Look into modern feminism. feminism is now divided into sects because the mainstream has become sour:

"Equity" feminism or "I" feminism are 100% cool. It's the blanket "feminism" term that includes some really vile people.

No, apparently you have a total lack of knowledge of vocabulary.

It's associated with chauvinism, at times misogyny.

And no matter how many times you boys attempt to re-define the term anti-feminism, it's not going to work.

an·ti·fem·i·nist (nt-fm-nst, nt-) KEY

ADJECTIVE:

Characterized by ideas or behavior reflecting a disbelief in the economic, political, and social equality of the sexes

Sarah Beth
"It's about women being EQUAL to men"

Isn't that exactly what the questioner was trying to point out? That is the TEXTBOOK definition of feminism. In practice, many women behave as if they are superior to men. That is what all self-respecting men, and sensible women, should oppose. If you all stand for feminism , you should oppose the female-superiority crap that permeates society.

If you want examples of how females run roughshod over men, just ask.

For the same reason people equate feminism with misandry. They paint with a broad brush.
It's convenient to support their arguments with such generalizations.

As an added bonus (for the conflict-o-philes) it stirs the pot.

"Anti-feminists" believe that women are less than, men. Pure and simple. That means that the anti-feminist is looking down on women. Whether their motivation is hate (misogyny), stupidity, or blatant self interest depends on the person involved.

As to what feminism is. A basic one from dictionary.com:
The doctrine advocating social, political, and all other rights of women equal to those of men.

Anything negative you add to that definition comes from your own prejudices.

Those who claim they're feminists and actually think women should be elevated above men, are Not feminists. Don't try to redefine the term feminism just because some who use the term use it incorrectly.

I have to correct people who claim they're vegetarians all the time when they say they eat fish, for instance.

Here on YA there seems to be a very negative attitude behind the way questions are asked or answered on the topic of feminism - by what appears to be male avatars. Personally, I think it's more a case of misoneism, not misogyny.

Misogynists harbor hatred or hostility toward women - period.
Misoneism is a hatred or fear of what is new or represents change.

Most men here feel insecure therefore, they lash out.

It is a virtual knife. A knife that is sharp when other feminists look at it. Blunt when anti-feminists look at it and turns into a vibrator when newbies figure out what misogyny is and the emotional correlation between this word and not agreeing with the feminists.

It's because feminism isn't about women over men, or women being better than men. It's about women being EQUAL to men. If you're against women being equal to men, it's generally a sign that you don't think women are as good as men, and therefore have a misogynistic attitude towards them.

I will say that too many women call men misogynists, though. That in itself is quite sexist.

Anyone who disagree with the feminist and their ideology is automatically being label as a misogynist. Stupidity at it finest IMO. The feminist are just insecure

Who or what gives the feminist the right to say that they are about equality in the first place?

Anti and Non-feminist are the one that believe in TRUE equality.

We're talking about real anti-feminism, which is the opposition to women's equality and the support of male supremacy. This does indeed have misogynistic overtones.

I tend to think that Mr. Warren Farrell harbors, in his heart, a secret fondness for Nazism and racism and screams against anything that supports equality of any kind. Of course, he'd never admit it, because that would show him up for what he really is.
