So Which year did they count (and which did they not)?

If you are just giving a year with no details please specify if its the unplayed year they counted or the uplayed year that they did not count.

They have it right. This will be the 103rd World Series, and it would have been the 105th if they had the Series those two years.
You're thinking that it should be the 104th because
2007-1903=104, but if you do that you're not counting the first one.
Another way to look at it is if the first World Series was in 2006, then this would be the second one. But if you try to figure it by 2007-2006=1 then you'll come up with the wrong number.

Neither of the years are being counted. Check your math. 1903 was the 1st, skip 1904, 1905 was 2nd.....1993 then becomes 90th, skip 1994, 1995 is 91st......2007 then becomes the 103rd.
