What does Bill Murrey whisper into the girls ear at the end of 'Lost in Translation'? I have wanted to know this since I saw the movie. If people don't know what he said what do you think he said? I'm curious what peoples opinions are. Here is the clip

Bill improvised this moment and it has never actually been revealed what was said, though there is plenty of speculation. This is from IMDB: For years, no one other than Bill Murray, 'Scarlett Johannson' and Sofia Coppola knew what Bob whispered to Charlotte in the final scene, but according to BBC2's "The Culture Show" (2004) in October 2006, where special sound equipment was used to make the conversation audible, Bob most likely said: "I love you. Don't forget to always tell the truth."

In a television interview Bill Murray said that it was about the upcoming Golden Globes and Oscars which is was rumored Scarelle Johannsen was going to be nominated for. He told her "If thing turn out like they should, I wish you all the best." or something close to that effect. I turned up the volume full blast and the first part of the comments sounds like "If this is it, then I wish you all the best."

No one knows. Sofia Coppolla who wrote and directed it did not script a line there. You will never ever find out as it is completely up to you what you think he says to her. Personally I think he tells her to go back to her husband.
