Is this semicolon in the right place?

Question

I have written this sentence about homeless people kipping in doorways , could you tell me if the semicolon is in the right place.
Well, we all are a bit frustrated when we are woken at the break of dawn ; homeless or not.

well, the sentence itself is awkward, but, no, there should be a comma there instead of a semi-colon.

I think the word, "awakened" might be more appropriate.
You do not have enough phrases or clauses for there to be need of a semicolon, I would however, use a comma.
The word, "well" is not necessary, I would leave it out of the sentence.
Whenever, I'm typing and not sure of punctuation, I usually use Spell Check in WORD and it lets me know if the punctuation or grammar it not quite right, it offers
suggestions.
I have found a simple thing that I do all the time, I'm sure it's because, when I hear people talk, I try to write dialog. After writing dialog for a couple of hours, I find that I over use words, for example, I use"then", "that", "like", "well", " I mean" and a few more words. I go ahead and type the sentence, look back to see if the sentence makes sense without these extra words. I'll bet you'll never guess, the sentence actually sounds better without them. You might try this sometimes, I believe you will be much happier with the sentence structure.

I think a comma would be preferred, the semi-colon seems awkward. I always think of a semi-colon as a longer pause than a comma, use it when one sentence transitions to an idea that is somewhat not totally related to the subject but where a period makes no sense.

darling, marks (e.i. .,!?:; etc.) should be after the word, no space after the word.. alright?
