Go to a health food store or wall greens and but magnesium. It's a pill. Take 2 in the morning 2 at night. It will work. I have done it for years,They are cheap but look on the side of the bottle and choose the small size.Your gut is like plumbing in a house. It gets all built up with junk. This will help clean it out. Every one should do a bowel cleanse every 3 or 4 months. You find them at health food stores.

Magnesium. Oatmeal. Applesauce. Lots of fruits/veggies.

Calcium can constipate as can Vit. B-12 (plus others I'm guessing), so if you take these, take extra magnesium supplements to counteract the constipation.

Apple juice or other juices might be helpful, also.

Get a really good probiotic..the ones you have to refrigerate (take it daily!) and eat a ton of fiber rich foods like nuts, beans, green leafy veggies, etc. Avoid red meat and dairy for a while, as they are difficult for your body to digest. Make sure you are always adequately hydrated and avoid caffeinated beverages and alcohol.

Chronic constipation is due to bad digestion. Many things can cause this, but it all goes back to how you are (or are not) digesting your food.

I used to have terrible digestion and would not have bowel movements, but every 3 or 4 days. The doctors told me that was just normal for me. Doctors are just stupid and ignorant when they say things like that.

Good digestion is when you go after each meal.

Chronic constipation is when your colon is impacted with old fecal matter and the bad digestion is just adding to it. In order for you to fix this completely, you need to do a few things that will help right away.

DO NOT TAKE ANY ANTACIDS! DO NOT TAKE LAXATIVES! These are profit over health products created by drug companies that have no conscience.

As you age, eat cooked foods, eat dairy products that have been pasteurized, homogenized, and not aged, take antibiotics, hydrogenated oils (like in margarine) and just plain eat the American diet, you will get this problem.

The intestines work extremely well when you give them the right tools to work with. If you pour water in your gas tank, your car won't be running very long, right? right. If you pour garbage into your body, it won't be running right either.

Contrary to popular heavy marketing being done by drug companies, stomach acid does not cause "acid indigestion." Notice they don't say, "stomach acid indigestion." It is LACTIC acid from rotting undigested food that causes the acid indigestion. As we age, our bodies produce less and less stomach acid. Cooked foods create much of this problem because raw foods contain enzymes in them that help the body break them down. Also, another process happens when food is adequately broken down and that is cells get remethylated and this remethylation process slows the aging process down.

Additionally, the intestinal flora is necessary to further break food down. Both the Stomach Acid and the Intestinal Flora are responsible for killing bacteria found in food.

To give your body what it needs to address the constipation problem, if it were me, I would do the following:

Go to: www.healthline.cc (not .com) and read the information on Betaine HCL and Activator and on Quantum digest. Also read about the probiotics.

Then call them at: (310) 320 - 1123 and order the following:

Betaine HCL --- Take 2 to 4 of these after each meal
Activator --- Take 1 to 2 of these after each meal
Quantum Digest --- Take 1 or 2 of these during the meal (2 if eating any meat)
Probiotic --- Take one of these in the evening and one in the morning each day.

I would also highly recommend you purchase the "Cleanse Blend" product. Take 5 of these in the morning and 5 at night for 3 months. This will clean All the old fecal matter that has been in there for years. You will probably lose about 10 or 15 pounds during this process.

The above will make your life so much better. I would also look to change your diet. If you are eating a low fat, high carb, low protein diet, STOP. This is just not healthy. You should be eating 40% protein, 30% carbs, 30% fats. Low fat diets are destructive to the digestive system. Stop all hydrogenated oil products like margarine, etc. Buy real butter made from raw cream, it is very good for you. The butyric acid from the butter will nourish your intestinal cells. Cultures in the world that have very healthy people eat lots of RAW dairy products and a lot of fermented foods. Stay completely away from ALL vegetable oils except for olive oil and walnut oil. Stay away from ALL irradiated, pasteurized, homogenized foods it is all junk and bad for your body. Eat only cheeses that have been aged for more than 90 days. Stay completely away from KRAFT FOOD products! Those are "one day" cheeses. Gross. Stay completely away from ALL soy products, except for fermented soy like soy sauce and miso.

Drink the amount of water your body needs. Take your body weight and divide by 2. Use that number in ounces for the amount of water you need each day. If you weigh 100 pounds divide by 2 = 50 ounces of water each day.

Drink steam distilled water and add your own minerals is the best.

Good luck to you

Laxatives are a no-no because they don't help to regulate you. However, when I had this problem, I began taking GLUCOMANNAN. Glucomannan is Konjac Root, and is a natural laxative AKA Fiber. It will not give you diahrreah or dehydrate you, instead it regulates your bowel movements. This can be found for about 10 bucks a bottle on vitacost.com. I buy the NSI brand. You must drink a lot of water with it, but believe me it works, without being painful or uncomfortable. Goodluck.

Adding more fiber to your diet, getting a good enzyme complex, and/or getting a good probiotic complex. Depending on what options you have available, all of those options help with digestion if you take them daily, and will also help with the absorption of the nutrients in your food.

If those don't help (or don't help enough), then you need to talk to your doctor or a nutritionist to find out what's causing the constipation. Good luck!

Prune juice or eat lots of dried apricots. Also try drinking fennel tea...it has an antispasmodic so it'll ease the discomfort...
