I'm having problems with my new ATI Radeon 2400 HD 512 mb card playing Battlefield 1942. It says out of range after I've done all the latest patches. I've tried everything from changing screen resolution to refresh rate, updated drivers from ATI site, even did a dll file overlay from a previous version per someone's advice. Nothing. Can I switch to an Nvidia with no problem or conflicts, or should I get another ATI card that is better?

You can use the Nvidia with an ATI motherboard with no problems. Just be sure to go to the Nvidia.com home site and download the latest drivers.

Battlefield 1942 will only support certain graphics cards. Check the requirements section in the read me file and make sure you have a card that is supported by the software.

The card you are able to use in a PC is not based on brand (ATI, nVida, etc) but on connectors. To use a card, it has to be the right kind to fit the video card slot inside the computer.

You will need to check the PCs specs (or system boards specs) and see what kind of a graphic port it has (PCI, AGPx, PCI-e, etc).

The new card will then have to have the same connector for it to fit.

You shouldn't have any problems unless you try SLI. a crossfire board will not work with SLI.
