I'm buying a new bike this weekend, It's between an 01 RR pretty much stock and a 99 R1 with 6000 worth of engine work bringing it to 180+ hp and it's tuned very well. Both are flawless in apperaence and performance, and the RR is slightly cheaper than the R1. What would you pay for these bikes? Which one should I get and Y?

Get the RR. It's slightly newer, and in the real world a $5000 bike with $600 of engine work is worth $4500, not $11000. Insurance companies don't like to insure Frankenstein bikes, i.e. overly modified ones, so you will either lie to them (which will get you canceled if they find out) or pay more in premiums for them to cover more "unknowns".

I would go with something newer personally. I bought my 2006 CBR1000 with 1700 miles on it for $8000 and absolutely love it. Anything older than 3-4 years and you better have it checked out real good first. Like the one guy said the RR is stock(a good thing). These bikes are plenty fast in stock trim.

R 1 will be the best one. Cheaper to insure.
