can anyone tell me how to fit the firewire component into my pc ... in plain laymans terms please a. s. a. p

Assuming you want to install a FIREWIRE CARD to the PC, and basing this on a DESKTOP type system not a laptop

Power PC OFF; LEAVE powerer cable attached.
Open case, remove the lid.
TOUCH CASE METAL to earth yourself.
Take Firewire card.
Locate a free PCI slot (white usually)
Remove blanking panel on back of PC if required, and slot card into the white slot.
Press down firmly
Install securing screw in back panel
Close case
As windows boots, insert the CD it came with and follow the software instructions on the install guide it comes with

You have to have a firewire port on your motherboard. If you do not have one, you will not be able to use firewire on that PC, unless you add one. Which involves opening your PC case and installing it.

You can get a card that plugs in to a pci slot just like any other card...
