The funny part is people still believe in party lines. The biggest benefactor from the first Bush's administration is Bill Clinton. Big oil controls both parties and the government is powerful when it tramples on our rights yet impotent when it comes to real needs like natural disasters. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, but the federal government likes to waste that money instead of fund projects which would keep fires from reaching critical states and reinforcing levees when states are too slow to act. A lot of people defend the federal government for some oddball reason when it fact all they do is sit on their butts until the big interest groups comes along and orders them to do something. Aren't we sick of bare minimums yet? I believe in states rights and state responsibilities, but there's a lot of cases where the federal level does not respect the state level. In times crisis, looking at the federal intervention at certain state policies, shouldn't the federal government be held more responsible?

It's not about Democrats are Republicans. Regardless of who's in charge they should at least, at the very least know that this is a possibility and fund projects to keep it from happening. The argument that it is "too expensive" is no longer valid. Whatever project they would have funded to prevent this kind of disaster or money the could have spent to hire and train more fire fighters is going to look like a drop of rain falling into the ocean when the final numbers come out on how much damage was caused.

Let's have some REAL Homeland Security for a change. Anyone who argues that needs to talk to the Katrinians and now the Californians.

Many prayers have gone up & God has heard the prayers. We now need to thank God for the people who are making a difference & for the safety of people who are stuck in this situation. I thank God that their needs are taken care of with more than enouph & plenty left over. That the insurance companies will pay the cost. That the government will pay whatever additional that is necessary to reconstruct, etc... But, I think we need to look into what we (US) could have done to prevent this in the first place. Maybe we weren't praying enouph ahead of time. The Lord told me not to pray about the fires, but to pray for the people & their safety & well being. Also, thank God that there hasn't been more than 2 deaths known so far. God is surely giving favor & protecting people through this very difficult time. What the enemy has meant to destroy lives, the Lord has prevented many deaths.

It's all Clinton's fault...if he had not lit that cigar after he inserted in it into the underage, illegal immigrant, Guatemalan prostitute while out in the brush hiding from Hilary in the hills near Malibu from which the spark for the fire was started...all this would not have happened...=)~

I remember a few years back, Neocons blamed all the forest fires on Bill Clinton. The argument was that any fire was the cause of White House mismanagement. I notice that they no longer think that forest fires are the fault of the president.

I wonder what changed.

Give Pat Robertson, James Dobson and other false prophets of the religious right to blame all those gays in California for the evil fires.

No. No one has mentioned the affair until now. Why would it have any relevance in a disaster, unless that disaster was Hillbillary being elected to the white house again?

It's probably the result of some poor sap who happened to see Monicas face in the news and decided to end it all by pouring petrol over their head and setting fire to themselves.
