The two don't share a common habitat, but should they meet I would give it to the shark. The alligator couldn't cause enough damage fast enough to kill quickly and the shark could cut the alligator in two with one good bite.

Not really likely to happen as they are deffinately not found in the same habitats. If the size of the shark and galigator are the same, I would have to say the shark. Mainly due to being taken underwater and rolled (as aligators do) will not have a great effect on shark. The shark also has a bigger mouth with more teeth, so the ability to inflict more damage is greater.
Like the question though :-)

This question depends if there's a race in swimming or fighting for their survival.
In a course race, the great white shark is much more on the advantage when the water level is high but may be a loser if the water level is short (shallow).
In fighting, especially in shallow waters, maybe the alligator would win but in deep waters, the great white shark maybe is on the advantage to win.
Again there are a lot of factors to consider for their comparison. How great is your great white shark in comparison to an alligator? The Size of the two matters.

All things being equal advantage (size, environment, etc) the shark is much more powerful and intelligent. Also alligators like to drown their prey, which would not really work with a shark.

The question also depends on size.. is this a 10 ft great white or a 25 ft great white? is this a 6 foot alligator or a 18ft alligator.. and also on the location

It would need to be a crocodile, and a salt water one at that. I saw a show about this, and the crocodile was out in the ocean, and it had to be careful because it would get eaten by sharks. It was something like 12 feet long.

Definately the shark...
It has a larger bite radius for a start, and wouldn't have to worry about being "rolled" by the alligator and drowned (the preferred method of killing by alligators and crocs).

It depends where but I think it would be the shark.
One day I've seen a documentary where there is these kinds of things. It analyses each animal then show a real fight between the 2 animals. It was the alligator and hippopotamus, it was the hippopotamus who won!

Hmmm, not sure.
I think the aligator as it has the advantage of having legs so it could jump on top of the shark if it had too.
Funny question.

Where? In a stream? In the ocean? On top of a mountain? In a desert?
It all depends on the territory.
