I don't wear the high heels like the stiletto's (sp?), I wear the big honking clodhoppers with the 3" heels (more like Doc Marten's boots with tall heels). I wear them because flat shoes give me a back ache and I never wear like dressy women shoes because the squeeze my feet too much.
I have to admit, that the added height is nice. I'm 5'5" so I'm not really short but with those shoes I'm taller than my boss and I love to play those mind games with him (only him). (Now he never stands to talk to me, he always invites me to sit)

I am 5' even. Some people don't get exactly how small that is until they can't find me in the maze of cubes. So I wear 2"-5" shoes most the time. I usually wear somewhat plain cloths and use high-heels to give it a little more style. It gives a plain outfit hint of sexy. I sit at a desk most the time so they are not pain full. Most my shoes are rated by how long I can wear them standing without being in pain. That's how I decide what to wear and when. Steve Madden are usually hot and comfortable so they last longer.
Never ask a women about shoes and expect a one line answer.

Fashion, Women attract to look than durability while men looks durability price brand lots. wearing high heels is very painful if you walk and stand lot, I did the same mistake when I bought a pair of shoes which were looks very good but heels were bit high then I actual wear, my experience was very bad and painful with those shoes, Everyday when I came to my office my legs started paining and I felt pain in my back too. That why I don't wear high heels shoes. I don't why women can wear high heels amazing.

G'Day Celt! I think women love to wear them, despite the pain, because it makes their legs look fantastic. It's not the heel that causes the pain, it's the pointed front of the shoe. Thank goodness that through the years, and in most decades, styles allowed a more comfortable situation by rounding or squaring off the toe box. Then, of course, they'd go back to pointed fronts. A marketing ploy that always works! Heels make most legs seem longer and sexier...just ask any of your mates and they'll tell you!
I've had many pretty short friends through the years that loved their heels even more than taller women did! At 4' 11" or a bit more, a 3-4" heel adds much to their height and the overall look they wish to achieve. I don't know about Australia but it seems that American women are getting taller by the decade and sometimes tower over their guys! Someone slipped a HGH in their oatmeal I think...lol!
In Europe, back in the 60's, Italian shoes were all the rage for men. Those shoes were every bit as pointed as women's heels. I think they all have the bunions to prove it.

I do wear high heels, but for a few reasons. A) I like to look people in the eye when I talk to them, and having to tilt my head back hurts after a while (I'm short, OK?) B) If I go on a date, I want to be able to look the guy in the eyes. C) If it's for a formal occasion (like our schools Christmas Banquet) I want to be able to wear the dress I bought comfortably, and not have it hemmed (as other wise it would be to tight up top and perfect length, or just right on top and too long. Were with heels you get both).
But on that note, I prefer flats. (I would LOVE to get a pair of ballet flats...), and if the flats have a small amount of height to them (not platform shoes, but just natural height) I'll love them. (like the shoes I have now...)

heels are completely about fashion, they were voted one of the most useless inventions of all time in a poll because they have caused women so much grief and serve no purpose. i, too, occasionally wear them--honestly, i think i shouldn't, but it seems only heels compliment certain pants, skirts, and dresses. i wish women WOULD stop wearing them all together--a lot of us would be saved from having foot or back surgery if we wore more comfortable shoes--but who am i to judge? i wear heels myself! maybe i'll stop due to this question. if there's anything that hurts women, it's heels! :)

Shorter women like high heels more. I think women wear high heels because it makes your legs look longer and leaner, and it gives you better posture. Women like to look sexy and heels accomplish that, or so they think...I am 5'9 and rarely wear heels.

There is a line created by a leg in a sexy heel. that line is sexy and beautiful. When a woman wears high heels she can saunter and sway. Her hips will move in a provacative way, a lit to her laugh a gleam in her eye. Fun and function. Or one or the other.

Heels truly are a girls best friend - flats are truly disgusting. I wear heels all the time, and am sooo much more comfortable in them. I truly love the way a pair of feminine, unbelievably high, thin stiletto heels make my legs and feet look - soo utterly delicate, extremely sophisticated and unabashedly sexy. Heels improve your posture, and give a very sensual wiggly to your walk. With each diminutive step, my slim hips sway soo incredibly seductively. ( I'm the one you'd see in the grocery store line in unbelievably tall absolutely drop dead gorgeous couture stiletto mules, my impeccably polished toes absolutely slathered in expensive gold and diamond toe rings, an extremely large two caret diamond solitaire toe ring on my fourth toe ( it is so very decadent, the large diamond is set high and absolutely dwarfs my fourth toe) and a very heavy diamond tennis bracelet around one of my slim ankles) I love all the wonderful attention I receive from men because of my choice of footwear, I never have to open doors or pull out a chair, men sense my glamorous predicament and assist me. I've been wearing heels for so long that I absolutely cannot wear flats - they simply hurt when I try to walk in them. A 4 inch heel for me is actually quite normal. Wearing heels all the time is actually quite an expensive extravagance, (designer shoes, hosiery, thrice weekly pedicures, massages, jewelry etc) but to me it is so worth it. . Conversations absolutely stop when I ever so slowly stroll into a room precariously perched atop a pair of expensive, unimaginably tall, strappy stiletto sandals, the soft evening lights absolutely glimmering off my utterly luxe diamond toe jewelry and expensive anklets, My feet look so completely fragile and so incredibly elegant, The time spent aloft atop my indescribably delicate extremely, precarious stilettos must be savoured , I am the absolute center of attention as I ever so slowly float past precariously perched atop my breathtakingly magnificent heels. Men turn and admire me and pay extra attention to meThese shoes aren’t about comfort, they are about boosting the feminine ego. Even after 5 years of wearing stilettos, I still feel so vulnerable, and unsteady, yet enchantingly glamorous and confident of myself while wearing my heels.
