Yes it happened to me twice this week.
The first time I had dance practice after school. I took off both my shoes and socks like everyone else.
After we finished I came out and both my shoes and socks were gone, along with five other people's. That was strange some weirdo has six pairs of shoes and socks, anyway we walked home in bare feet, about 2 km
The second time l was at a friend's party and I took off my shoes and socks off because it was a warm night. I wasn't the only one to do it but after I came to get them they were gone. So that is twice someone swiped my shoes and socks in one week. Some really strange people out there.

At Vrindavan temple, my shoes were stolen and I had to walk about a mile barefoot with great discomfort , to the nearest shoe shop. Since then, while visiting temples, where I have to take out my shoes to enter, I never keep both shoes together. I keep them at least 10 feet apart.

I'm always barefoot and I regularly take long walks, but I do so on purpose. I can't recall ever having my footwear taken or losing it in any way, back when I still wore any.

Left my sandals behind in a quick get away from a girl's hotel room in Cancun... ran home via the beach. Wasn't bad.
