Don’t go to Philadelphia, according to this article.
PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - Philadelphia is home to the least attractive people in the United States, a survey of visitors and residents showed on Friday.
The city of more than 1.5 million people was also found to be among the least stylish, least active, least friendly and least worldly, according to the "America's Favorite Cities" survey by Travel & Leisure magazine and CNN Headline News.
Philadelphians' self-esteem has been undermined by national surveys showing they are among the fattest people in the United States.

Geesh, according to many of the red state bashers on here, Philadelphia has moved south of the Mason Dixon line- right? Shall we send government aide to help lift their self-esteem?

Oh, and before you people bash me, I happen to like Philadelphia.

I happen to like Philadelphia very much so I wonder why you bother to point out this negative survey. Philadelphia has always gotten a lot of bad publicity and I’m not really sure why. I’ve visited many times and I think it’s a great city. The people certainly don't seem any less "stylish" than in most other parts of the US and I've always found them to be quite friendly.

I could give a rat's butt who is "stylish", trendy is way to over rated. Active, I suppose that depends on what you mean. If it means helping to file lawsuits that impede proper forest management which results in huge destructive fires, I guess less active is a good thing. As for the last two, the least friendly and the least worldly, I would put Hollywood at or near the top in both categories.

Give me a nice Philly Cheese Steak with American, not Provolone, cheese, over the cheese cake in Hollywood any day.

Good to see that Americans and their press have their priorities straight. Because certainly, the attractiveness, physical size and stylishness of the people of a city is headline news!!!

And Americans wonder why the rest of the world laughs at and/or hates them.... Actually, not ALL Americans wonder that - some aren't aware of the opinion of the rest of the world, because they are far too busy worrying about the attractiveness of the people from Philly!

This should be in the travel section but since I live 20 mins, from Center City I had to respond.

I invite anyone to visit Philly and see for yourself. We have the best restaurants next to NYC. The largest city park, the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, nearby Valley Forge, art galleries, museums, boutiques and many other great attractions.

Philadelphia is not new in the realm of bashing. There's an old WC Fields joke that says first prize was one week in Philadelphia....second prize is two weeks.
