You should call your doctor. However if you had chicken pocks when you were little, the liklihood of you getting them again as an adult is MUCH less. If you did not have them when you were a kid, you need to contact your doctor immediatly because chicken pocks can be very bad for an adult. Your baby is well protected by your body, however... you still need to make sure your doctor is aware of this. Good luck!

I like all the answers that were given! But just because you have had chicken pox as a child does not mean you won't get them again. The case wouldn't be bad at all. As for chicken pox vaccinations (Varivax) that children get. It is completely up to the parents of the child whether they get it or not. Children that do have the shot can still possibly get a small case of the chicken pox. The nurse told me that when my daughter got her shot as a toddler. She has not gotten them yet which is good. But there is still a small chance, it is not as great as it would be without the shot! Honestly it would concern me as well as I am 16 weeks pregnant and I have had them when I was a child! You can still carry the virus even though you have had them and transfer it to someone else. Just call your doctor and try not to stress out to much about it and good luck and try oatmeal baths for your son and lots of calamine lotion and benedryl!

Have you had then before? if so then you are immune to them. If you haven't got them and you contract them now, your baby end up with severe problems. Chicken Pox is very dangerous to an unborn baby. Most adults have had them as children, so hopefully you have too.

Here's some info from Baby center:

What can happen to my baby if I get chicken pox while I'm pregnant?
Chances are good that no harm will come to your baby, but timing is a factor.

If you get chicken pox during the first half of pregnancy, there's a slight risk that your baby will get something called congenital varicella syndrome. This condition is characterized by birth defects, including skin scarring, malformed limbs, an abnormally small head, vision or hearing problems, and motor or mental developmental disabilities. A baby with congenital varicella syndrome may also suffer poor growth in utero.

If you do contract chicken pox, you'll have a detailed ultrasound at 18 to 20 weeks to look for signs of defects or other problems and at least one follow-up sonogram later to see how your baby is doing. You may also choose to meet with a genetic counselor to discuss the risks in your particular case and decide how you want to proceed.

First point ......... have you ever had chicken pox??? If you have then you are not going to contract them again, as you are immune.
Next point - the risks to your baby change greatly depending on when in your pregnancy you catch chicken pox. Before 13 weeks, the risk is small, with only 0.4 per cent of babies suffering any side effects.
Good luck :)

If you've already had chicken pox, you're immune so don't worry. If you haven't had them, talk to your doctor about the effect catching them would have on your baby. If they're dangerous then maybe get someone else to watch your son while he recovers. I think chicken pox lasts about two weeks.

Have you ever had chicken pox? If yes than you are fine you are immune and therefore your unborn child is fine...however if you have not had it it is highly contagious and you need to talk to your doctor ASAP about how to treat your child and keep from catching it...

If you had chicken pox when you were a kid, you should be immune to it. But call the Dr and ask him just in case.
