Hi,
It’s okay that you’re not a mathematician. Black bodies are theoretical bodies primarily associated with physics, although they are described mathematically. Anyway, I’m going to try to explain black body radiation in qualitative terms rather than mathematically.
A black body is an object that absorbs all of the electromagnetic radiation that falls on it without either reflecting any radiation or allowing any radiation to pass through it. Black body radiation is the radiation that a black body radiates as a result of the radiation that it has absorbed. The spectrum of radiation that the black body radiates is characteristic of the black body only and is not dependent on the type of radiation which is incident upon it. A black body emits some energy at every wavelength, but the peak in it’s emission spectrum is characteristic of its temperature.

It basically explains why an incandescent light bulb glows.
When heated to a certain temperature, a black body.
(picture a black ball with a tiny keyhole in it so light cannot
get inside) will glow with a certain spectrum of radiation.
picture a horizontal axis increasing in frequency to the right.
Then a bell-shaped curve sort of truncated or skewed on the low end. The thermal energy E has to be sufficient to knock
electrons out of their ground state orbitals to higher ones in order for them to fall back down and give off photons that contribute to the spectrum. The work function or h-nu is the
minimum energy to supply in order for this to occur. nu is the characteristic frequency specific to the material. The average of the spectrum is the color you see. Below this temperature, lower frequency energy is confined to molecular motions, translation and rotational and vibrational

It is a description of waveforms whose frequency is a function of temperature. See gory detail at this link.
