What should you do if you bang your head?

I just banged my head on a wooden shelf after standing up (I'd bent down to pick up a pen). What should I do to check there isn't any damange or to see if medical aid is required?

Put your hand on the spot, if there is no blood or swelling then you are alright. If either is present, then you might want to see a doctor.
