My current modem is not compatible with a wireless router. If I buy a wireless modem router, would I need another modem or another router or would it be enough to connect both my PC and my laptop to internet?

Wireless modem routers can normally support 5 separate computers through an Ethernet (cable) connection and over 200 users via a wireless connection.

The main problem you may encounter is wireless signal but the level of wireless signal depends on the strength of the antennae.

If you are in a built up area - be sure to encrypt your wireless signal - otherwise you may be providing Internet to people who you don't really want to have access to it.

You can connect to the Internet like this :-

Internet ---- Modem ---- (Router) ----- PC or
Internet --- Modem / Router ----- PC

The Modem & Router can be in 1 box or 2 boxes or you can connect to the modem without a router if connecting only 1 PC.

A instant modem router would be a instant router/modem combination and a instant router would merely be a router via itself. in case you had severe-velocity cable internet you'll want a modem linked to a instant router to get on line.
