I've had really good luck with Combat Ant Gel. It comes in a big syringe you can squeeze into cracks/corners or spots the travel in. Since it's a gel it doesnt go everywhere like a spray.
Its much better than standard ant traps, within a day you will see the ants eating it, within a few days they are gone. works with small ants as well as larger carpenter ants.

Try this:
In a small container, mix together:
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon Borax
3/4 cup water.
After the sugar and Borax are dissolved, dip pieces of bread crust in the solution and put them where you see the ants. The ants will swarm all over the baits and carry it back to their nests, and within two days you should have no more ants.
I used to have a huge problem with ants, and I have cats that get into almost everything so regular pesticide sprays were out of the question. A lady on one of my forums described this recipe, and it does work.
Good luck!

you need to get a ant trap which holds food that the ants take back to the queen and kills her and the ants. any ants left over will leave as there is no queen to serve. also if you can see where they are coming from u can put down some washign up liquid like fairy as when the ant tries and walks thru this it gets stuck and dies. make sure theres no crumbs etc on the floor as this is what attracts them and keep all food out of the way. hope this helps.

They are being attracted to something. It could be food or a warm place for the winter. Ordinarily I'd suggest an ant and roach killer of some sort, but with the 3 year old, and another one coming, that might not be the safest bet. Try and find the entry point and block it with some caulking, and see if that helps.

If your renting call the landlord and tell them about the problem, they should pay to get the place exterminated.
If you run into a problem with that go down to a local harware store and get some indoor insect spray, of course with children you might have to be out of the home for several hours, and you will want to clean the area very well after you spray it.
There are other solutions also that are less likely to affect the small ones, but be carefull of what you put young kids like to put things in the mouth a lot.

They are called sugar ants. I was told to wash my floor with pine Sol and spray around the edges of my kitchen, it helped I haven't had them since then and that has been about 4 years ago. I do not use Pine Sol anymore because of my allergies but I use a disinfectant detergent on my floors

Raid out side the entire house, windex in doors and wipe, make sure all food is sealed and if you have pets, draw a circle around their food with chalk.
Oh yeah and in the mean time, cover all electronics because ants recently bit through my aunts computer monitor (it was LCD)

Taro? Not sure how to spell it. It is a bait that attracts ants and kills them. I think it is safe, usually gets rid of them in a day.
