I remember something in the 70s about a human breeding with a monkey. Is this true? I don't think so because monkeys don't possess the same genes. Or Do They?.?.?.?

The "Monkey boy" thing was a hoax for the tabloids. However, there is a scientific reason why a human/monkey hybrid would be impossible.

Chimpanzees and the great apes have very similar genetics, but there's one major chromosomal difference between them. Somewhere in history, two of the "ape" chromosomes fused into one chromosome in the human lineage. Humans have one *fewer* chromosomes than apes. There are also several other major differences, mostly in the form of chromosome segment inversions.

Basically, if you were to try to match up a human gamete and an ape gamete, the chromosomes wouldn't match up, and the resulting embryo (if it were to develop that far) would probably die long before it could be born. It's unlikely that it could even achieve a successful fertilization.

I remember something about that. I think it turned out to be a hoax, or at least a misinterpretation of what it really was. It had some behavioral abnormalities that made it seem more human, but that was probably because it was raised in such close contact with humans.

It also looked strangely human, but scientists speculated that it was a mutation or had an extra chromosome (like some human disorders). The similarity between humans and the creature (I think it was a chimpanzee) were just coincidental. I'm not sure if they had any samples to do a genetic analysis.

You're right though. Humans and some primates are genetically very similar, but not similar enough to create a hybrid.
