First, prove he isn't real.
And the point?
Security, reassurance, guidance, support, love.......

I can prove you God is real. Can you create a human? Can you give life to somenoe who's dead? You are now alive and you can't do these things. So, someone must have created you and brought you to life, right? And of course it's not an animal or a human. Now, given that someone has created you and all minkind and animals, he has then created the whole Universe what you see, what you can't has enabled you with the power to think and have emotions. And God is not a person, God is EVERYTHING, is anywhere, is endless, is the whole world. So this what we worship... You dont need to see him or catch him. You have one million, million proofs that He exists. After all, he's not an object to be cought. Then, the reason why you haven't seen him is that he appears to people that really trust him and believe him. Be a better believer next time and he will appear to you...

If you go with the assumption that God is NOT real, based on the evidence that you cannot see him or touch him, then there are still reasons for worship. Some people are raised in families that attend church regularly, and even if they don't believe in God, they find the routine comforting. Or the music uplifting.
Just for the record, I do believe in God. But I know a few self-confessed pagans (Santarea, Wicca) who still attend worship services when with their families for these reasons. Good Question.

People worship God because they know without a God what would be the point in our existence?
I think its a stick for people to lean on to stop them worrying about death, the truth is there is no God & anyone with half a brain knows it.
People are scared to tackle this issue in alot of detail as without a God we feel insignificant & uninportant.
What is the point in life at all if there is nothing to follow it?
I could go on for alot longer & in alot more detail of why there is no God which is obviously why there is no point in worshipping but ive prob already upset plenty of people :)

This isn't really philosophy is it - it's religion. However, you can see by the low level of intelligence displayed in most of the answers that worshipping a God is not a matter of thought, it's a matter of Faith. If there's one thing that humanity has consistently failed to understand in it's short existence it is that belief in a God is not a sign of intelligence, but a sign of fear! We all fear the unknown. Belief in a God, which usually includes some rituals of worship, or other makes us feel better about it. End of story...

You answer your own question with your very first few words "If god is not real..."
Of course there is no point in worshipping something that is not real.
Wow addy, you are truly delusional. How can anyone disprove a god that either may or may not answer your prayers, but all cases show that he actually exists?

It is through our sensory organs of eyes, ears, nose, touch ect...that we are able to obtain knowledge and realisation. But the Creator is not a thing of which we can learn through our sensory organs therefore it is difficult to know about the Creator. There are many things in this world whose existence cant be verified. For example, with the aid of a microscope or a telescope, microscropic things and objects very far away can be seen.To know the Creator,it is necessary to possess spiritual knowledge. You could experience the Creator with knowledge and guidance of a teacher. It requires concerted effort in the right direction to have realisation of the Creator.

There is better proof of the existence of God than any ancient texts of the hearsay, revealed or faith-based religions can offer. It is the marvel of the creation and all things great and small. Is reverence for creation and existence the same as worship? I think that it is.

God is the almighty power who made us and everything around us. This life is test for humans. It has been given to humans by God for reasons only known to him. If we pass the test God will send us to heaven and if we fail we go to hell. Passing this test requires only a few minor adjustments to the way we live our lives. Details of passing thest is explained in a test book called Quran and explained by a teacher named Prophet Muhammad. If we take u this winning way o lie we will get an added bonus of a content life in this world too.

How far can you go? Normally your ambitions need to be kept in check rather than encouraged. You tend to assume that anything is possible just as long as you try hard enough. Yet for some reason now, you lack your usual confidence. Either you doubt yourself or you doubt your circumstances. One way or another, you fear failure - and, thus, you feel inclined to contemplate a compromise. Do you really need to sell yourself so short? Absolutely not. Soon you will see why.

In this life we are born, and the first awareness as physical beings is an awareness of a higher power than ours that takes care of us, and has more knowledge than us. And it protects and loves us and we know that power as our parents.
If man himself is an evolved creature and there was a process that allowed our species to exist separate and entire from others. And that we can learn to take care of ourselves and create laws for authority as a society to live in. Then we should be appreciative of that process that allowed us to exist.
That for me is what worship is to God. To show thanksgiving, and love to him for the way that my fellow man have the ability to live with others. And especially that my loving will honor that God that created me to love and worship him. Love creates love
