..where somebody was sentenced to the death penalty only it turned out that they werent guilty after all?

specific cases would be lovely. i have to make a public service announcement about the death penalty and i wanted to use a case example.

Oh yes, there have been many. You might try referencing The Innocence Project on Google. They are an organization that looks into death penalty cases and helps those who they believe may be innocent. They could lead you to a wealth of info I am sure.

Yes. In the United States 124 people on death row have been released with proof that they were wrongfully convicted.
Take a look at www.deathpenaltyinfo.org and click on innocence. There are several cases where innocent people were very probably executed.

Absolutely! However, with DNA testing it is scientifically possible to conduct more thorough investigations in modern day cases.

In centuries past...many people were sentenced to the death penalty without having committed any offense!
